Having a diverse workforce is an asset and provides a major competitive advantage in the marketplace. Many organizations spend a great deal of time and effort in recruiting a workforce that reflects the communities, markets and various stakeholders they serve. Many organizations provide a detailed description of their philosophy towards diversity either as a part of their mission and values statement or as a separate entity.Find an organizational diversity/inclusion statement.1. Analyze and critique its contents (the following bullet points are examples of how you can develop your narrative-they are not requirements)Is it a broad or narrow statement? Is it a philosophical statement or a legalistic statement?Does it include many stakeholders? Or just a few?Is there a connection to the mission statement? Statement of values?Does this statement include external recognition of their efforts? Are there employee testimonials?Does the statement add value to the firm?Did they miss any important point or topic?_________________________________________________________2. read the article answer the following question??Who’s Really Buying That Car? Ask Her. What demographic group outspends and controls the majority of consumer spending?Let’s have a multiple choice: The spending engine that drives the U.S. economy—and economies the world over for that matter—is women. As Chief Purchasing Officers for the substantial majority of U.S. households, women make about 83% of consumer spending decisions; and consumer spending accounts for two-thirds of the GDP in this country. No matter what marketers are selling, be it potato chips or computer chips, chances are it’s women who are the ones deciding which to buy.Marketers have historically assumed that women purchase the family household necessities: furnishings, packaged goods, apparel. But only recently have companies begun to realize that, these days, women buy most of the big-ticket items, too. And that, increasingly, includes automobiles.Companies in the car business (well, savvy companies) are aware that women purchase at least 60% of the new cars outright; they are influential in 85% of buying decisions overall. With numbers like that, you’d think auto marketers would be focused on women like a laser beam. But so far, I’m seeing little more than a few low-battery flashlights. Consider the current state of most car ads. Instead of featuring people-powered messages focusing on human benefits and providing women with visuals and pertinent car information, most spots these days tout status, speed, power, engineering prowess and other elements known to be more appealing to men.Why the disconnect? Probably because it’s well known that men, on average, are more interested in cars than women. Men like to talk about cars—how they work, the new models and new features on the horizon, what car they’d like to buy next, etc. By contrast, most women tend to talk about cars only when they are in the market for a new one, and their talk is used as an information-gathering exercise. It will help them decide which car to buy. The problem is, many companies following the reasoning that the people who seem most outwardly interested in cars—men—are also the primary buyers. Not so. Best Buy was one of the first corporations to uncover this insight when an in-store study found that, although the majority of shoppers in its stores were indeed men, the majority of buyers were women. Men, who are fundamentally more fascinated with electronics and gadgets, like to come in and browse for what’s new (emphasis on browse). Women came in less frequently by comparison, but when they came, they were ready to purchase.Female ads = Female buyersWhy market differently to women? Because women think and feel differently than men do, they buy differently, too. But don’t regard this as a black-and-white dynamic. It’s more like a continuum with relatively more men on one end and relatively more women on the other. To illustrate, let’s focus again specifically on cars. Men and women think and feel differently about four key elements of the car buying decision: Styling, speed, fuel efficiency and safety. Here’s why they’re so different:• Think of the environment—because she will. Women have always expressed interest in hybrids because of the environmental impact. Continued high gas prices will only increase her interest, resulting in potential category growth.• Look at styling. Both men and women care about it. But to him, styling is more about the lines and accents of the exterior. To her, styling is more about the design and finishes of the interior.• The need for speed. He wants bragging rights about how many seconds it takes to get from zero to 60. She wants to feel secure that her car has enough acceleration to outrun the truck trying to squeeze past her on the expressway entrance ramp.• What safety means. For him, it’s about features that help avoid an accident, such as antilock brakes and responsive steering. For her, it’s about features that help to survive an accident: passenger airbags, reinforced side panels or a drop-down engine.I should add here, too, that men and women also display dramatically different approaches to the very process of car shopping. As a rule, a man usually decides upfront what he wants to buy and sets out to look for it. By contrast, women have a general idea about car details, but set out with the objective of learning more about what her options are in the marketplace. It’s an exploratory process. Women have a longer list, but they want the same things as men, and therein lies the moral of the whole story.Marketing to women does not mean the exclusion of men. In fact, if you can meet women’s expectations, you generally exceed the expectations of men. When you better job of marketing to women, your customer satisfaction goes up among male buyers, too. Imagine: You get two groups of happy customers for the effort of reaching one. It’s just time to pay attention to which one you’ve been marketing to.Questions1.Using information from the article, “Who’s Really Buying That Car? Ask Her.”, from your textbook, and our class discussions, identify four specific needs/wants and their corresponding value motivations that women from men2.Using the four [primary] elements of the marketing mix, list specific examples of how automobile marketers could use these differences to sell cars to women and sell cars to men? (i.e. Outline your strategy for each element for BOTH target markets.

Q 1) Does the company have an orientation programmer?Q 2) If yes how effective is it? answer these question after reading case studyCASE STUDY Navin AGM materials, is fuming and fretting. He bumped into Kiran, GM Materials, threw the resignation letter on his table, shouted and walked out of the room swiftly. Navin has reason for his sudden outburst. He has been driven to the wall. Perhaps details of the story will tell the reasons for Navin’s bile and why he put in his papers, barely four months after he took up his assignment. The year was 2005 when Navin quit the prestigious Sail plant at Mumbai. As a manager material Navin enjoyed the power. He could even place an order for materials worth Rs 25 lakh. He needed nobody’s prior approval. Navin joined a pulp making plant located at Pune as AGM Materials. The plant is owned by a prestigious business house in India. Obviously perks, designation and reputation of the conglomerate lured Navin away from the public sector. When he joined the pulp making company, little did Navin realize that he needed prior approval to place an order for materials worth Rs 12 lakhs. He had presumed that he had the authority to place an order by himself worth half the amount of what he used to do the mega steel maker. He placed the order material arrived, were received, accepted and used up in the plant. Trouble started when the bill for Rs 12 lakh came from vendor. The accounts department withheld payment for the reason that the bill was not endorsed by Kiran. Kiran rused to sign the bill as his approval was not taken by Navin before placing the order. Navin felt fumigated and cheated. A brief encounter with Kiran only aggrarated the problem. Navin was curtly told that he should have known company rules before venturing. Navin decided to quit the company.

Union Pacific Railroad is the largest railroad in North America, operating in the western two- thirds of the United States. The railroad serves 23 states, linking every major West Coast andGulf Coast port, and provides service to the East through its four major gateways in Chicago,Memphis, St. Louis, and New Orleans. Additionally, Union Pacific operates key North/Southcorridors, connects with the Canadian and Mexican rail systems, and is the only railroad to serveall six gateways to Mexico. The railroad transports a large number of products, includingchemical, coal, food and food products, forest products, grain and grain products, metals andminerals, and automobiles and parts. Union Pacific has been ranked first among railroads inFortune magazine’s published list of “America’s Most Admired Companies.” In an attempt toimprove its 70 percent rate of timeliness and accuracy of shipping to customers, Union Pacificplans to install computers and satellites on the railroad engines, which would give conductors abetter ability to communicate and locate railcars that need to be delivered. How would you conduct a needs assessment to determine what types of trainingconductors need to effectively use the new system?
